The view from my back yard.

I can literally see nothing in the sky cause of clouds.

Sorry to hear that. We had a cold front today and the sky is crystal clear.

It's been cloudy all night up until now. It's crystal clear viewing for now, and it looks gorgeous!
What did you use to take that shot?

Awesome shot! I can see it from my balcony, but I wear glasses so I can't see it as well :/

Canon 40D, Tamron 70-200. Don't remember the other settings at the moment.

It is red

It is incredible at my place and Mars above it is a nice touch as well. Unfortunately my point and shoot doesn't do too well with night sky. That's about as good as I could get but it was so much brighter than the photo

There's another eclipse coming in October, but I'm not sure where it will be visible from.

Because my phone camera only showed the moon as a little glowing white mass, I have no decent pictures. However, I can confirm that the atmosphere Gods smiled down on Nebraska last night. The clouds all moved just in time, and I got to see the whole thing. Cool, but I was too tired to really appreciate it.

I got up to see it about as you have it pictured here, and then again to see it in full "red" glory. Very cool. Just wish it would have been a Friday night so I could have watched more of it, and had the kids up with me.

I was out from about 12:45 CDT to about 2:30. Took lots of pics, but this one is perhaps the best, though I've not looked at them all. Photographing the red moon was very difficult, or I just didn't know what I was doing, which is more likely. We got the kids up when it was about half covered. My younger twin boys (age 8) went straight back to bed. My 11-year-old stayed up with me for a while. The view through binoculars was spectacular.

Red moon = less light = longer exposure = fuzzy photos.
The one above is great. Glad you got to make some memories with the kiddos. My oldest is 7. Kind of wish I'd gotten him up, but he's one that needs his sleep, and I didn't want to make my wife's morning any rougher - ha!

I'm by no means a pro photographer, and I might have done better if I had known what I was doing (I'm getting ready to post a few more photos). When the moon was partially covered, you could meter the dark half or the light half, but not both. The human eye does a much better job of seeing both at the same time than a camera does.

That's for sure! The eye (and how things resolve in our brain) are truly amazing. I love HDR photos where the photographers only attempt to recreate what we can see naturally. (Trey Ratcliff's are more "blown out", but still amazing http://stuckincustoms.smugmug.com/ )
Were you using a tripod?

Absolutely. Tried various modes before dialing it in with manual settings. I shot all of it in RAW so I can go back later when I have more time. Photography is one of those things where the more I learn, the more I realize I don't know.

Amen, brother! So much fun to have the time to experiment, though. I've been shooting in RAW and using Lightroom for quite a while now.
